Digital Scrapbooking Terms

You maybe one of the few like me (LOL) who are not familiar with some scrapping terms. You might have passed by a forum and they're talking alien for you. Haha! That happened to me a lot in the past few years. When I started digital scrapbooking in 2009, I'm not a passer by or by standers on any online forums. I'm trying to learn on my own. But I love to visit some galleries and do scrap lifting, as my way of learning. Then I realize that I won't just learn on my own if I don't know any technical terms or the how tos of Photoshop. Anyway, here are some terms I was able to collect.

LO - Layout or the page that you have created.

CT/CTM - Creative Team/Creative Team Member. Designers hire scrappers who are willing to make layouts or hybrids using their kits and also help them promote their products.

TOU- Terms of Use. Each designer or layout artists who make freebies, has a Terms of Use in each kit they sell or give away for free. It outlines what you can and cannot do with the products you have purchased or downloaded. This is something very important to pay attention to.

PU - Personal Use. Most designers' products are for personal use only, you cannot use it commercially, re-sell or share.

CU - Commercial Use. Some designers make commercial use products. At this point, you can use it to make things that you can sell.

S4H/S4O - Scrap for Hire/Scrap for Others. Some designers allow you to use their products to create layouts for others. In Scrap for hire, you will be paid for making layouts for other people. While Scrap for others, you are scrapping or making layouts for family and friends without them paying you.

Scraplift - Taking inspiration from another person's page. Usually you copy all or part of the layout.

RAK - Random Act of Kindness. Sometimes you enter to win, such as a thread posted on a forum, other times you will be randomly gifted with something from a designer, perhaps because they see you wearing their blinkie in your signature.

ISO - In Search Of. If you happen to visit a forum and they have a post about 'ISO' it means that they are In Search Of, whether a commercial use product or a creative team member.

GSO - Gallery Stand Out. Many forums and sites have a gallery for you to display your pages. Others go through the galleries and will post pages that really stood out to them.

LOTD/LOTW - Layout of the Day/Layout of the Week. Some sites have Layouts of the Day, where one layout is chosen as the outstanding layout for that day. Layout of the Week is a layout that was chosen as the outstanding layout for a certain week.
